CRS-1200 Introduction to Conflict Resolution Studies

Disagreements, hurtful relationships, bullying, verbal aggression, physical assault, genocide, and war-human conflict is widespread in personal, community, and global settings, and all experience conflict in some way. This course prepares students to deal constructively with conflict through creative problem solving, effective communication, productive use of power, skills for peaceful justice-making, and understanding gender dynamics. To deal with personal and others' conflicts, students explore approaches such as negotiation, mediation, nonviolent action, cross-cultural sensitivity, legal alternative dispute resolution, and restorative justice.
