*Previously Information Assurance and Security: Safeguards and Countermeasures* The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the theoretical knowledge required to implement secure design principles using fundamental concepts of security models. This course provides the foundation for understanding security capabilities of information systems when applied to vulnerability mitigation strategies across security architectures, designs, and solution elements. Topics will extend to assessment and mitigation strategies that cover web-based, mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) systems. This course is conceptual in nature and covers examination content delivered through the ISC2 - Certified Information Systems Security Professional. Prerequisites: Information Assurance & Security Level 2: Asset Security (CISSP Domain 2) Objectives: To introduce the concepts of counter measures and safeguards like remote access controls, firewalls, intrusion detection systems and virtual private networks Outcomes:Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: Understand how Access Control List (ACL) applies to Windows and Unix operating systems Compare different intrusion detection systems and malicious software and determine how these impact data safety Understand basic database design and explore how the structure and accessibility of database files protects information security Learn how to block/prevent intrusion attempts Manage security architecture systems and permit access at multiple security clearance levels
