The course investigates the history, beliefs, and practices of past and present drug-induced spirituality in Canada and throughout the world, focusing on plant-based medicine, and trends to decolonize it, along with the counter-culture movement, the “Psychedelic Renaissance” and the Burning Man Festival, and the medicalization of drug-induced spirituality for the treatment of anxiety, depression, addiction and for the use in palliative care. The instructor in this course, the cross-listed departments and BU do not condone / encourage the use of psychoactive drugs.
