Examines fundamental topics and themes in Canada's politics, economy and society from the 1960s to the present, including: Quebec nationalism after 1960; western regionalism and the reassertion of provincial rights since the 1970s; the women's movement and first nations' activism since the 1960s; constitutional reform, patriation and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms in the 1980s and 1990s; free trade and globalization since the 1980s. Prerequisite: [six credit hours of history] or written consent of department head.
